Cun-Yu Wang is the Distinguished Professor at both the School of Dentistry and School of Engineering and Applied Science of UCLA. He holds the Dr. No-Hee Park Endowed Chair in Dentistry, and is the member of Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and Stem Cell Research Institute. He attended UNC at Chapel Hill for the Dentist-Scientist Award training program and received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics in 1998. He joined The University of Michigan School of Dentistry as an Associate Professor in 1999 and was promoted to Richard H. Gingery Endowed Collegiate Professor in 2004. His major interests are cancer stem cells and skeletal aging. He has made a landmark discovery on the regulation of cancer cell death by NF-κB and discovered a novel epigenetic mechanism controlling skeletal aging. His work has been constantly published in the top journals which have been cited near 60,000 times. He is an elected member of National Academy of Medicine, a foreign member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, an elected international fellow of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has won numerous awards, including the NIH MERIT Award and the IADR distinguished scientist awards.
