On March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day, the inaugural China-Egypt Anti-Cancer Summit successfully concluded virtually. This summit, jointly organized by China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), Egyptian Cancer Society (ECS), and World Association for Integrative Oncology (WAIO), focused on breast cancer, a global health issue, with particular emphasis on cutting-edge research and clinical practices related to young breast cancer patients. The event attracted audiences from China, Egypt, Singapore, Libya, Israel, and other countries, with a total of over 16 million real-time online viewers worldwide. The summit was chaired by Prof. Ying Wang, Vice President of CACA, Secretary-General of Asian Oncology Society (AOS), and Secretary-General of WAIO. The summit was inaugurated with opening remarks by Academician Daiming Fan, President of CACA, President of AOS, and President of WAIO, alongside Prof. Hesham El Ghazaly, President of ECS and President of Breast Gynecological & Immuno-oncology International Cancer Conference (BGICC). During the keynote speech session, Academician Fan delivered an insightful presentation titled "The Development of Integrated Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in China." He provided an in-depth analysis of the current status and challenges of integrated cancer diagnosis and treatment in China, offering a comprehensive introduction to the "Chinese Guidelines for Integrated Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment." These guidelines, characterized by their distinct Chinese features, are systematic, innovative, and emphasize healthcare accessibility, providing new perspectives and insights for global cancer prevention and control. Academician Fan emphasized that integrated diagnosis and treatment represent a critical direction for the future of cancer care, requiring multidisciplinary collaboration and the integration of various treatment modalities to deliver personalized and precise therapeutic solutions for patients. He also shared China's explorations and practices in the field of integrated cancer diagnosis and treatment, while outlining a vision for its future development. His speech highlighted the importance of a holistic approach in advancing cancer care and underscored China's commitment to contributing to global oncology efforts. Prof. Emad Hamada, Secretary General of ECS and Director of Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Center at Kasr Al Aini Hospital, presented on "The Paradigm Shift in Treatment Modalities for HER2-Low Metastatic Breast Cancer." Prof Hamada highlighted that HER2-low breast cancer represents a distinct subtype of breast cancer, for which traditional treatment approaches have shown limited efficacy. He focused on a novel HER2-targeted antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), T-DXd, and provided a detailed comparison of the clinical characteristics and patient outcomes between T-DXd and another ADC, T-DM1. Prof. Hamada emphasized that the clinical application of T-DXd offers a groundbreaking treatment option for patients with HER2-low breast cancer, significantly improving survival benefits and marking a substantial advancement in this field. His presentation underscored the transformative potential of T-DXd in redefining the therapeutic landscape for HER2-low metastatic breast cancer patients. Prof. Jin Zhang, Chair of the Breast Cancer Professional Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association, delivered a presentation titled "Key Updates in the CACA 2025 Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Early-Stage Breast Cancer." She shared China's experiences and achievements in breast cancer prevention and control, providing an in-depth interpretation of the CACA guidelines. Her presentation covered the latest advancements in breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, offering clinicians more scientific and standardized frameworks for patient care. Prof. Zhang's insights emphasize the importance of evidence-based practices in improving outcomes for early-stage breast cancer patients and highlighted China's contributions to advancing global breast cancer management. Prof. Hossam El Ashtokhy, Chair of the Scientific Research Committee at Tanta Cancer Center in Egypt, delivered a keynote speech titled "From Evidence to Practice: Case-Based Analysis of Clinical Scenarios." Through real-world case studies, Prof. Ashtokhy demonstrated how evidence-based medical research can be effectively translated into clinical practice to develop optimal treatment plans for patients. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and knowledge for clinicians, stressing that the application of the latest research findings in clinical settings is essential to providing the highest standard of care for patients. His presentation highlighted the critical role of evidence-based approaches in improving patient outcomes and advancing cancer care. During the roundtable discussion session, the penalists engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on cutting-edge topics and future trends in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. They shared research achievements and clinical experiences from both China and Egypt, offering valuable insights and suggestions on how to strengthen international collaboration and promote the joint development of breast cancer prevention and treatment efforts. The discussion highlighted the importance of global cooperation in advancing cancer care and emphasized the shared commitment to improving outcomes for breast cancer patients worldwide. Since the formal signing of the strategic cooperation memorandum between CACA and ECS on January 24, 2025, both organizations have been committed to building a cross-border bridge to jointly advance cancer prevention and treatment efforts in their respective countries and globally. The China-Egypt Anti-Cancer Summit, as the first summit under this collaborative framework, not only marks a substantive step forward in the partnership between China and Egypt but also heralds the beginning of a new era in the "Path of Medicine." It showcases China's achievements and capabilities in the field of cancer prevention and treatment while fostering the sharing and mutual learning of academics between the two nations. As emphasized by Academician Fan in his opening remarks, international collaboration and academic exchange are pivotal to advancing global cancer prevention and treatment efforts. The successful convening of this summit is not only a tribute to International Women's Day but also a solemn commitment to the global fight against cancer. Moving forward, China and Egypt will use this summit as a springboard to further deepen their cooperation, jointly contributing more wisdom and strength to the global cause of cancer prevention and control.
