Dr. Yuzhuo Wang, Ph.D., F.C.A.H.S., is a Distinguished Scientist at BC Cancer, Senior Scientist at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, and a Full Professor at UBC's Department of Urologic Sciences. Founder of the Living Tumor Laboratory, Dr. Wang is an internationally renowned pioneer in cancer modeling, developing over 300 patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models that closely resemble the malignancies from which they are derived. His groundbreaking research has led to the discovery of several new therapeutic targets and the formation of three biotech companies. Dr. Wang's innovative hypotheses, such as cancer-generated lactic acid being a critical immunosuppressive metabolite, have shaped modern cancer research. With over 230 peer-reviewed articles, an H-index of 84, and numerous awards, including the UBC Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Achievement Award, Dr. Wang continues to influence the field globally, delivering over 220 lectures. He has been a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (FCAHS) since September 2018.
