On the morning of March 3, 2026, China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) and International Society of Oncology Prevention and Treatments (ISOPT) held a successful high-level strategic meeting.
CACA’s President Prof. Daiming Fan, Vice President Prof. Ying Wang, and International Affairs Department Director Lijun Zhang met with ISOPT President Prof. Charles M. Balch (former President of American Society of Clinical Oncology, ASCO). They had in-depth discussions about global cancer control trends, sharing academic resources, and future cooperation plans. Both sides reached an agreement to form a strategic partnership.
Prof. Wang chaired the meeting. First, each organization introduced its history, main mission, and key activities, which helped build better understanding and trust.
Prof. Fan explained CACA's recent achievements in building oncology as a discipline, developing and promoting Chinese-style cancer treatment guidelines, and running widespread public education on cancer prevention and control. He showed China's active role and open attitude in global cancer work. He said that stronger cooperation between Chinese and American medical communities is very important strategically. CACA focuses on full-cycle cancer management (prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation), which matches ISOPT's goals very well and gives them a strong foundation for working together.
Prof. Balch spoke highly of CACA's large organization, academic success, and international influence. He expressed great admiration for Prof. Fan's leadership and vision. During the meeting, he warmly invited Prof. Fan and CACA experts to attend the ISOPT annual meeting in Shenzhen and Hong Kong this June. He also plans to visit China in April to discuss cooperation details in person with Prof. Fan and Prof. Wang. He said: "Cooperating with CACA is very meaningful for ISOPT. I hope to come to China soon to talk deeply with Prof. Fan and the CACA team, and quickly turn today's agreement into real action."
The two sides reached several important agreements. They will jointly organize international anti-cancer summits, deepen cooperation on academic journals, and support each other in international outreach to share resources both ways. For journals, they agreed to invite Prof. Balch to join the editorial board of the journal "Holistic Integrative Oncology" (HIO), and to recommend excellent articles. Prof. Fan also invite ISOPT to join World Association of Integrative Oncology (WAIO). With support from both leaders, CACA and ISOPT plan to officially sign a strategic memorandum at the Chinese Congress on Holistic Integrative Oncology (CCHIO) in Changsha, Hunan, in November 2026, and hold a joint CACA-ISOPT session there.
This meeting gave strong momentum to practical and efficient future cooperation between the two organizations. CACA will continue to follow an open and inclusive approach. It will deepen international medical and scientific exchanges, promote global understanding and trust, and make contribution to national and global cancer control.
